   Castell Rock
   Saturday 6th August 2011

Due to the re-scheduling of the date for Castell Rock,
there may be changes to performing bands listed on the website.

   Headline band:-         Meic Stevens

Meic Stevens and his band have confirmed.

Bydd y canwr - cyfansoddwr Meic Stevens yn chwarae set dwyieithog yn Castell Rock eleni. Mae Meic yn dod o Solva ac mae wedi bod yn canwr poblogaidd iawn yng Nghymru ers y 60au.

Legendary singer-songwriter Meic Stevens will headline Castell Rock 2011 accompanied by his band to perform a bilingual set of songs spanning his entire career. A native of Solva in Pembrokeshire, Meic Stevens has been an integral part of the Welsh music scene since the beginning of the 1960's and is often cited as a major influence by bands such as the Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.

   COLORAMA

Colorama frontman Carwyn Ellis has worked with Oasis, Shane MacGowan and Edywn Collins, amongst others, but it’s his own Cardiff based group Colorama that really deserves the most attention. Singing songs in both English and Welsh that reach straight for the heart, Colorama also possess a musical agility which impresses not just for its eclecticism and variety, but for its soulful depth too. They are fast becoming one of Wales’s most compelling musical exports. Their three albums so far have been delightful explorations of chiming melodies, consummately arranged acoustic instruments, and dreamy psychedelia.

     Masters In France

Masters In France are a bilingual band from Gwynedd who were recently included in the prestigious BBC Radio 1 daytime playlist. During the past few years they have toured the UK and Europe extensively gathering a strong fan base.

   Georgia Ruth Williams

A product of Aberystwyth, popular young harpist and singer-songwriter Georgia Ruth Williams has previously appeared on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury as well as the SWN and Greenman festivals. In 2010 she opened for Seth Lakeman at some of his UK Summer dates, and has recently recorded a new collection of songs at Bryn Derwen studios with David Wrench. Her unique blues-folk style of playing and beautiful singing voice have earned her critical praise and support from the likes of Radio 1's Huw Stephens who describes her music as "beautiful lovetorn tunes".

    Annular

Formed in 2009 Machynlleth based, Annular are a Metal band with Tribal/Southern inspired grooves, fused with melodic twists and brutal vocals. They have shared the stage with bands such as Romeo Must Die, Seven Year Kismet and Swedish band Marionette as well as hitting the UK live scene hard with their own headlining shows. Their debut album “When Nothing Remains” will be produced by Nick Hemingway at Philia Studios, Henley-on-Thames in September 2011 and will be released worldwide through Brutal Elite Records, London

  THE INFAMOUS

The Infamous are a 5 piece high-octane rock band from Aberystwyth. Feeding on influences from the likes of Velvet Revolver, Red Star Rebels, and Guns N' Roses, they are fast making their mark on the modern rock scene. Aiming to impress the crowd everywhere they play, they've successfully gained respect from their fans, and from fellow musicians alike. Gigging relentlessly and gaining momentum they have played at The Emerging Artists Festival in New York and supported the likes of L.A Guns, New York Dolls and Towers Of London.

   SON CAPSON

They've had a song banned on the Tom Robinson show and managed to sell a copy of their EP to a member of the Scotish Parliment....Son Capson are bloody dangerous. Bred in the belly of Wales, they have quickly established themselves as a ferocious live band, Radio 1 DJ Bethan Elfyn even said 'Son Capson are something else - and I'm not sure what. Individual to an extreme, which is always better than boring - it's a sea shanty-gypsy folk - cripes!'.....she's never recovered....Their EP 'To Bend a bird' has nearly sold out and they now hope to release their debut album later this year.

   The Unknown

The Unknown describe themselves as a "bunch of outsider weirdoes from Aberystwyth who rehearse under the pier until the tide drags them back to their homes under the sea." This Aberystwyth band play an uptempo mix of Funk and Ska that is sure to get the crowd going.

  Spiral Groove

Spiral Groove are a popular Aberystwyth area R&B band. This high energy six piece band is sure to get the festival crowd up and dancing.

     Y Gwir Foddolwyr

These four young Aberystwyth schoolboys  play with a maturity that has seen them win S4C's 'Ysgol Roc' Battle of The Bands series, the Mid Mad Bandslam competition as well as the Radio Cymru C2 'Brwyr Y Bandiau'. Currently looking forward to recording a Welsh language E.P in Cardiff they are very happy to be chosen as the opening act of Castell Rock 2011.
